Vicki Johnson is a seasoned public relations and marketing strategist and former Disney veteran who runs her own branding communications and guest experience integrity firm.
Since 2016, she has consulted with the Carnival Corporation's Guest Experience & Innovation (GXI) team to launch the OCEAN Platform and the MedallionClass Experience, producing more than 70 billion media impressions in the innovation space.
Johnson developed the massive media relations campaign to unveil the OceanMedallion and the Ocean Connected Guest Experience at CES 2017, leading the pitch that positioned Carnival Corporation CEO Arnold Donald as the opening day keynote - the first time in the event's 50-year history that an executive outside the technology industry filled that position.
The CES appearance kicked off a multi-year campaign that included other news-generating events like the Times Square debut of OceanView Originals programming and PlayOcean, as well as the record-breaking WiFi Bandwidth at Sea Event to demonstrate the superior connectivity offered through MedallionNet. Johnnson also worked to create and manage other smaller events like the unveiling of the first "smart ship," as well as multiple innovation-at-sea fams to harness earned media and position Carnival Corporation as an innovator.
Johnson also led the development of the extensive, strategically-aligned brand framework for all components of the OCEAN Platform and Experiences. She also has spent extended time on MedallionClass ships from Princess Cruises observing and analyzing the guest experience to identify ways to optimize experience operations and better harness guest insights to maximize efficiences and minimize roadblocks.
During her more than 13 years with Disney, Johnson promoted and publicized the world's most popular vacation experiences - Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland Paris Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland and Adventures by Disney - to media around the glove, including spearheading communications and press event responsbilities for theme park/cruise ship launches and major marketing campaigns.
Johnson has also served as director of public affairs for the U.S. Travel and Tourism Administration (within the U.S. Dept of Commerce) in Washington D.C., promoting the United States as a primary destination to visitors all over the world. In that capacity, she also coordinated the media relations efforts for the first-ever White House Conference on Travel and Tourism. Prior to working for the Clinton Administration, she was the director of communications for the Florida Department of Commerce, promoting the state's economic development, international trade, tourism, film and sports efforts.
She also has worked for two of the most prominent advertising/pr firms in Florida - Sachs Media and The Zimmerman Agency.
Johnson is a graduate of the University of Florida, where she majored in journalism. Her travel industry-related activities have included chairing the PR committee for VISIT FLA and serving on the public relations council for the Travel Industry Association of America (TIA).
